So, the babies are 3,2,1 right? Well, the oldest has been to two caucuses, and has been in the room to vote like 5 times. She was so pumped when I told her today was voting day.
"Hooray! Time to vote, everyone gets to vote! Hooray!"
Uh oh I think. She has done this, she knows the plan. So I go, I check in. She hangs out near the stickers, checking out the ballot with the magnifier. She did this for the primary as well. And then.. I vote. I get my sticker. All is working as planned. Then, someone offers her a sticker.
"No, I didn't get to vote. I DIDN"T GET TO VOTE YET."
Here we go.
Ms. A was holding her papa's leg, and wanting to move around the world, making some noise. The 7 am crowd are all on their way to work, not so interested in babies in the polling place. I was worried. I stepped out with the girls, tried to put on the bike helmets. There goes B, back down the ramp and into the room. " I DIDN'T VOTE. Everyone MUST vote."
Shoot. This is all me. I do tell them that everyone must vote. We get all excited about voting day. We vote for other things, to learn that voting is important. I will print out the sample ballot for today, and see if I can get her to vote absentee...
Everyone MUST VOTE! Do your part.
