Intentional planning

You recycle, I recycle, everyone recycles right?  Well, here are my thoughts about recycling from a 2 year old perspective.

1) It looks an awful lot like just sorting garbage.  It goes in a box, it gets brought out to the curb near the can... how is it different?

2) Reusing makes a lot of sense.  There is another side to the paper that really needs to be colored.  Shoe boxes are lots of fun to decorate.  Buttons and milk caps make great art projects.

3) Bringing stuff to the thrift store and getting different stuff is a fun adventure.

4) Garage sales are much more fun then stores are.  It is like a treasure hunt.

5) Momma won't buy us any drinks in the store that come in plastic.  Because of this, we drink sweet tea from time to time.

6) Waste is not allowed.  We don't have to eat our dinner, but we can't waste it.  We can do any art project we choose, as long as we finish.  We don't destroy things for the sake of it.

7) lunches are carried in bento boxes.  No baggies, no waste.  Even momma and pappa bring their lunch.

But seriously... we bring our cans to the local church or grocery store that has the huge semi-sized bin.  The girls get that this is recycling.  This is a whole lot of cans that can be smooshed into something else.  This is a fun place to toss cans in, hear the noise, look at all the different types of cans.  This is recycling!

We reduce, reuse, recycle at our casa.  And we try to do it in intentional, visible ways.  We want the girls to be a part of the whole process.  Like most of our family planning, it is by accident.  We didn't set out to say how can we raise wonderful earth loving kids.  But we are doing it.  A little bit each  day.

Garage sales freak me out. I do not do garage sales. Or almost any monetary interactions outside of traditional stores with strangers.
